Asoke - Rama 9 is a flourishing neighbourhood that has bridged cultural traditions with contemporary developments and has emerged as both a commercial and financial center.

Thonburi, located on the west bank of the Chao Phraya River, was briefly Thailand's capital city in the 18th century, remaining an independent town and province until it was merged into Bangkok in 1971.
